MANSFIELD, Conn. - Freshman
Laziah Quinonez (Manchester, Conn.) won the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:12.17 to lead the Western Connecticut State University Wolves to a tie with the Nichols University Bison for sixth place in the Bonnie Edmondson Women's Outdoor Track and Field Invitational at Eastern Connecticut State University this afternoon. WestConn totaled 35 points, while Eastern Connecticut won the team title with 160 points. The Wolves will compete in the Trinity Invitational tomorrow.
Quinonez won the 400 hurdles by .6 seconds and added a fourth-place time of 16.51 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles to account 16 of WestConn's points in the meet. Freshman
Jordyn Grey (Naugatuck, Conn.) was third in the shot put at 11.06 meters and sixth in the hammer throw at 41.32 meters to earn 10 points for the Wolves in the throwing events. In the 800-meter run, WestConn freshman
Katelyn Zaloski (Danbury, Conn.) came in fifth place with a time of 2:35.75, while junior
Marisol Tapia (Danbury, Conn.) was sixth in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 22:27.05.
