WestConn Softball Players Receive Weekly Honors

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Western Connecticut State University senior Olivia Bordenaro (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.) and junior Kendall Allen (Naugatuck, Conn.) were each named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division III Weekly Honor Roll, while Allen and Lorelei Stancavage (Bristol, Conn.) collected Little East Conference (LEC) weekly awards. Allen was the LEC Offensive Player of the Week and Stancavage was the LEC Rookie of the Week.

Bordenaro went 4-1 in the circle over a four-day, eight-game stretch where she made seven appearances and totaled 34 innings of work.  In addition to recording wins over Farmindale State, SUNY Purchase, Mount St. Mary, and Keene State, the lefty also recorded a save against Purchase and struck out 22 batters last week.  She tossed complete games in victories over Mount St. Mary and Keene State with six and seven strikeouts, respectively.

Allen batted .400 (12-for-30) with 18 RBI, six runs scored, two doubles and two home runs over a 6-2 week for the Wolves. She was 2-for-5 with two runs, four RBI, a double and a homer in a 13-5 win at Farmingdale to open the week before going 2-for-3 with a solo homer and five RBIs in a 9-1 win at Purchase.  In a weekend conference split versus Keene State, Allen was a combined 6-for-9 with a double, two runs and eight RBIs.

Stancavage batted .455 (10-for-22) with two doubles, one triple, eight RBI and five runs scored in the Wolves' 6-2 week. She was 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and two doubles in a 6-4 victory at Purchase, including driving home the game-winning run in the eighth inning to defeat the Panthers, after going 2-for-3 with a run, an RBI and a triple in a 5-2 loss at Farmingdale State. Stancavage was 3-for-8 with four RBI in a doubleheader sweep at Mount St. Mary, and 1-for-3 with an RBI and a stolen base in WestConn's 7-6 LEC win against Keene State.
