MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - Sophomore
Nick Lobuono (Trumbull, Conn.) went 4-for-5 with two homers and six RBIs, but the Western Connecticut State University Wolves were beaten, 15-7, by the SUNY Old Westbury Panthers in Ripken Experience baseball action this afternoon. WestConn pitchers hurled six scoreless innings but fell victim to seven-run outbursts in the second and sixth frames by Old Westbury. The Wolves drop to 4-5, losing their fourth game in a row. The Panthers improve to 4-2. WestConn will conclude its South Carolina trip tomorrow with a noon game against Colby-Sawyer College.
Old Westbury took a 7-0 lead after the second inning and added another run in the fourth, before Lobuono belted a three-run homer in the bottom of the fourth frame. The Panthers tacked on seven more runs in the sixth inning, while the Wolves offense plated runs in each of the last three frames.
