Madison Ratchford (Ridge, N.Y.) had seven goals and an assist to lead the visiting Western Connecticut State University Wolves to an 18-5 victory over the Farmingdale State College Rams in women's lacrosse action this afternoon. WestConn evens its season record at 1-1 and the Rams fall to 0-1. The Wolves will visit Tufts, ranked No. 1 in the nation, next on Tuesday at 4 p.m.

The Wolves broke the game open with six unanswered goals in the second quarter, including four by Ratchford, and WestConn led, 9-3, at halftime. Morgan Brace (Brewster, N.Y.) for WestConn's 16th goal and scored her third of the game to make it an 8-0 run and give WestConn its largest lead at 17-3 at the 11:59 mark of the fourth quarter.
WestConn dominated statistically, outshooting the Rams, 37-11, forcing 18 turnovers while committing 11, scooping 21 ground balls to eight for Farmingdale and winning 17 of 25 draws. Pota finished with five goals, while Gracy totaled six points on three goals and three assists, and Murnane had six points on a goal and five helpers. Pota registered a game-high 10 draw controls, while Ratchord also had three draw controls and three caused turnovers.
