PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Western Connecticut State University's women's basketball team was picked sixth in the 2026-27 Little East Conference (LEC) Pre-Season Coaches Poll, tallying 28 total points. Under the direction of Maria Conlon (3rd Season), WestConn will open the season on the road against the University of Saint Joseph on Friday, November 6 at 6pm.  The Wolves were 10-15 overall and 5-11 in the league in 2025-26, doubling their total wins from five to 10 in Conlon's second campaign.

WestConn returns some key contributors from last season's roster including junior forward Fatmata Barrie (Staten Island, N.Y.), who averaged 8.0 points and 7.5 rebounds per game last year.  Junior guard Gianna Castellano (East Haven, Conn.) and sophomore forwards Elise Chanka (Bridgeport, Conn.), Julyssa Patterson (Waterbury, Conn.) and Niya Taylor (Bridgeport, Conn.) also return for the Wolves. Franklin Pierce transfer Janaya Prince-Baquero (Cranston, R.I.) joins a large incoming freshman class as WestConn blends returning post play with a young backcourt.
