DARTMOUTH, Mass. — Off a penalty kick,
Shannon Anderson (New Milford, Conn.) put Western Connecticut State University on the board in the women's soccer team's 3-1 loss to UMass-Dartmouth in Little East Conference (LEC) action on Saturday. WestConn moved to 6-4-1 on the season and 2-1-0 in the league, while the Corsairs improved to 3-4-2 and 1-1-1.
Natalie Frazier netted both goals in the first half for the home team, before Anderson's penalty kick in the 72nd minute narrowed the Wolves' deficit to within one. The visitors had seven shots on goal before the tally, but Marina Cassano saved them all in the net for the Corsairs.
In the 89th minute, Dartmouth padded its lead by one on a penalty kick by Kiariana Williams.

Katherine Pease (Strafford, N.H.) recorded four saves, while Cassano had 11. WestConn outshot UMD 21-16, but Dartmouth had the 3-2 corner kick advantage.
WestConn returns home to face non-conference opponent Worcester State University for a midweek matchup at 6 p.m. on Tuesday.
