DANBURY, Conn. – Each week, WestConn Athletics selects one female and one male student-athlete as the Wolves of the Week, recognizing their outstanding performances in their respective sports from the previous week. Julia Stoliker (Red Hook, N.Y.) and sophomore midfielder
Nickolas Santana (New Haven, Conn.) have been named as Wolves of the Week.
In a 3-0 week for the Wolves, Stoliker totaled 47 kills, 24 Digs and three blocks. She paced the Wolves with a match-high 15 kills in a 3-1 victory at SUNY New Paltz. WestConn jumped out to an early 1-0 lead when senior outside hitter
Sydney Slupatchuk (New Milford, Conn.) took a feed from Stoliker and smashed a shot to the court. Stoliker capped the match with a shot just inside the line off an assist from
Maggie Ferguson (Southbury, Conn.). She totaled 32 kills to lead the WestConn to a sweep of the United States Merchant Marine Academy Mariners and the University of Hartford Hawks in a volleyball tri-match. Stoliker notched 15 kills and finished with a .313 hitting percentage against the Mariners and had 17 kills and 11 digs versus Hartford.
Santana scored twice to lead the Wolves to a 2-1 win over the Vermont State University Castleton Spartans in the Little East Conference (LEC) men's soccer opener. Santana gave the Wolves a 1-0 lead in the 17th minute, converting on a feed by junior midfielder
Aidan Roxo (Danbury, Conn.). Santana struck again 4:22 into the second half, this time with an assist provided by senior
