DANBURY, Conn. - After notching its first conference win of the season over Vermont State University Castleton on Saturday, the Western Connecticut State University men's soccer squad played to a scoreless tie against visiting non-league opponent Lehman College on Monday evening. With the deadlock, the Wolves moved to 2-4-2 overall while the Lightning went to 3-0-1. 

WestConn had entered the contest 5-0 all-time against Lehman and 3-0 at the Westside Athletic Complex. 

The hosts dominated first half play as they kept the ball in Lehman's end of the field. They finished the night with a 12-6 lead in total shots to go along with a 5-1 advantage in corner kick attempts. 

Despite owning the opening stanza, WestConn surrendered the best chance to score to Lehman. However, senior goalkeeper Zachary Benson (Milford, Conn.) made a stellar diving stop to keep the visitors off the board. 

The Wolves continued to control possession early in the second half. Sophomore midfielder Juan Gomez Herrera (Brentwood, N.Y.) blasted a shot but Lightning junior netminder Andres Barajas (Port Chester, N.Y.) came up with a diving stop of his own. The remainder of the contest was evenly played as both teams had high quality scoring opportunities but both goalies were up to the task. 

WestConn will look to pierce the win column once again when they host Western New England University in a non-conference contest on Wednesday evening.
