PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Western Connecticut State University men's and women's cross country teams were each predicted to finish eighth in the 2025 Little East Conference (LEC) Championship Meet this fall. The Wolves' harriers are poised for improvement this fall, as Head Coach Ryan Budd has had a full pre-season to prepare the teams after being hired in mid-season of 2024. The defending champion Keene State College Owls received 61 points and six first-place votes to rank No. 1 in the 2025 LEC Men's Cross Country Pre-Season Poll and the Owls had 64 votes and eight for first place to top the LEC Women's Cross Country Poll. WestConn garnered 18 votes to finish eighth of nine teams in both sets of rankings.
The Wolves open the 2025 season in the University of Hartford Invitational on Saturday, September 6 and will compete in invitational meets at UMass Dartmouth, Keene State, Connecticut College, and Central Connecticut this fall. The LEC Championships will be held at Keene State on Saturday, November 1 and the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional Championships will take place at St. Lawrence University in New York.
