Caleb Harris (Guilford, Conn.) and junior
Aidan Burke (Wilton, Conn.) won exciting singles matched, but the visiting Western Connecticut State University Wolves dropped a 7-2 decision against the Bridgewater State University Bears in Little East Conference (LEC) men's tennis action this afternoon on Rosen Memorial Courts.
Bridgewater State swept doubles play despite a heroic effort by Burke and senior partner
Kevin Tenesaca (Danbury, Conn.) who came up short in a tiebreaker at the top of the lineup. Burke won, 6-2, 4-6, 10-2 at second singles and Harris earned a 3-6, 6-4, 10-2 victory at fourth singles in a revenge match against Matthew Krampf from last spring.
"As our season is winding down, this was an important match to see where we stand and how we match up in the conference," said WestConn Head Coach Shawn Stillman. "We are going to have to do better, by playing smarter and holding on to the lead. The pressure to win will only intensify in the playoffs."
