Anthony Marsala (Beacon Falls, Conn.) and freshman OF Nick LoBuono (Trumbull, Conn.) each had three hits and a double to lead the Western Connecticut State University Wolves to an 11-7 victory over the visiting Manhattanville University Valiants in baseball action this afternoon at Westside Field. WestConn snaps a seven-game losing streak and improves to 6-15, while the Valiants drop to 14-15. The Wolves will be back on the diamond tomorrow when they visit SUNY New Paltz at 3 p.m.
Marsala and LoBuono both delivered two-out RBI singles in the first inning to give WestConn a 2-0 lead. Manhattanville scored once in the second and twice in the third, but the Wolves answered with a five-run third inning of their own. Senior DH Nick Moeller (Mahopac, N.Y.) led off with a single and LoBuono followed with a double. Marsala doubled home both in later in the inning, while freshman 3B
Billy Untiet (Prospect, Conn.) and sophomore SS
Bryan Birkl (Farmingdale, N.Y.) drove home runs with singles in the third and Untiet scored the fifth run of the frame on a Valiant error.

Trey Lindsey (Windham, Conn.) did not allow a hit over the next three innings and held Manhattanville scoreless for the next four. The Valiants started the eight inning with two doubles and a single, but Wolves rookie reliever

Quinn McGuire (Monroe, Conn.) shut the door with a perfect ninth a strikeout to end the game.
Lindsey struck out three and did not walk a batter to collect his first career victory. Marsala was 3-for-5 with a run and four RBIs and LoBuono was 3-for-4 with three runs, an RBI and a walk. Moeller was 2-for-4 with two runs and a walk and sophomore 1B
Thomas Keough (Farmington, Conn.) finished 2-for-3 with a run and two walks. Anthony Iazzetti and Anthony Mezzaucella had two hits for Manhattanville and Jason Gardineer was saddled with the loss.
