FARMINGDALE, N.Y. - The Western Connecticut State University men's tennis team fell at non-conference foe Farmingdale State University, 7-0, on Tuesday afternoon.
Highlights were from the No. 1 doubles slot.
Aidan Burke and
Kevin Tenesaca played great to build a 5-3 lead in the match but couldn't hold on and dropped it 7-5. They are now 3-2 on the season in doubles.
Playing in No. 2 singles, Burke battled back after dropping first set. He was down 4-5 and 5-6 in the second set but broke his opponent both times to force a tie breaker, which he ultimately dropped 7-3. His match was the last match of the afternoon.
"Farmingdale is a strong team and I was impressed with our effort and fight. We have had matches though where we put ourselves in position to win, or to win a set, and we need to be sure to play confidently during those times when pressure is highest. I look forward to seeing how the season progresses," said WestConn head coach Shawn Stillman following the action.
The Wolves moved to 1-4 overall and return to action for an LEC tilt against visiting UMass Boston on Saturday at 1 p.m.
