ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. - The Western Connecticut State University Wolves lost, 7-0, against the St. John's University Johnnies in men's tennis action this afternoon at Sanlando Park. Wolves senior
Kevin Tenesaca () and junior
Aidan Burke (Wilton, Conn.) posted a 6-2 victory at first doubles for the Wolves, but the Johnnies won the other two doubles matches to take the point. In singles, St. John's swept all six matches in straight sets, although Wolves senior
Caleb Harris (Guilford, Conn.) battled hard in a 6-2, 7-5 setback in the No. 3 match. The Wolves will be back in action tomorrow at 8 a.m. when they face the Edgewood College Eagles at the United States Tennis Association (USTA) National Tennis Center.
"In singles, Tenesaca, Burke and Harris all lost their first sets relatively quickly, however all three turned it around amazingly in the second set. While none of them came out victorious, their efforts stood out as they pushed their opponents to the brink," said WestConn Head Coach Shawn Stillman. "Today's match left the coaches excited for what's to come this season. We knew it was going to be a challenge, but our entire team showed a lot of fight, including the exhibition matches. We look forward to the remainder of our matches this week."
