Ryan Vallie (East Haven, Conn.) went 8-for-8 with seven runs and seven RBIs to lead the visiting Western Connecticut State University Wolves to a dominant sweep over the Yeshiva University Maccabees in the teams' season-opening doubleheader played today at Fairleigh Dickinson University. WestConn poured in 36 runs over seven innings in game one and continued its onslaught with a 27-0 win in seven innings in the second game. Seven Wolves pitchers combined to allow eight hits in the 14 frames, while WestConn pounded out 49 hits, 15 for extra bases, and four home runs in the doubleheader. WestConn will head to South Carolina for several games over spring break from March 17 to 21.
