REDDING, Conn. — After the final day of the Little East Conference (LEC) Men's Golf Championship,
Logan Starks (Mechanicville, N.Y.) finished fourth on the leaderboard with a round two score of 84 on Friday, and a total of 166 across the two days, at Redding Country Club. The first-year earned First-Team All-Conference for the first time in program history. WestConn, hosting the tournament for the first time, nabbed the fifth spot in the standings with a team score of 706, just one stroke behind fourth-place Rhode Island College. To round out the top three, the University of Southern Maine claimed the top spot (671), followed by Eastern Connecticut State University (678) and Keene State College in third (696).
Tim Larson (New Milford, Conn.) improved his day two score to tie for 12th place after firing an 81 on the day and totaled 172. First-year
Giancarlo Garippa (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) shot a 90 for the 21st spot, followed by teammate
Anthony Nanfito (Middletown, Conn.), who placed 22nd with an 88. Garippa totaled 185, while Nanfito finished one stroke behind.
On the first day, Starks tied for fourth on the leaderboard with an 82 on a cold and windy first round of the LEC Men's Golf Championship Tournament on Thursday. WestConn totaled a round one score of 366 as a squad and sat sixth in the team standings, six strokes shy of fifth-place Castleton and 15 behind second-place RIC. Southern Maine has a comfortable cushion in first with a 335.
Starks birdied the sixth and 14th holes and was consistent with a 41 on the front and back nine to tie Ethan McDaniel, of Eastern Connecticut, and Aidan Davis, of Keene State for fourth place. Larson tied for 16th with a 91, Garippa shot a 95 to claim 24th place and Nanfito was 27th with a 98.
