Women's Soccer Falls to Montclair St.

DANBURY, Conn. - After wins over Worcester State and Little East Conference rival UMass Boston, the Western Connecticut State University women's soccer squad fell to visiting non-conference foe Montclair State University, 2-0, on Wednesday evening at the Westside Athletic Complex.

With the loss, the Wolves dropped to 8-5-1 overall while the Red Hawks remained undefeated at 7-0-4.

The visitors opened the contest with the first goal of the night when junior midfielder Shannon Mullins (Paramus, N.J.) took a cross from senior forward Kylie Prendergast (Livingston, N.J.) and chipped a shot just underneath the crossbar. It marked Mullins' team-leading fifth goal of the campaign. They would hold a 1-0 advantage at halftime.

WestConn could not break through in the second half. With a scrum in the box, Prendergast gathered the loose ball and booted a shot across the line for an insurance tally, putting Montclair State ahead, 2-0 in the 79th minute of play. The visitors would continue to play keepaway the rest of the half en route to the victory.

WestConn will look to get back on track when they travel to the University of Southern Maine for an LEC matchup on Saturday at Noon.
