Ella Hubert (Buffalo, N.Y.) chipped in with 11 kills to go along with a staggering .409 hitting percentage. Sophomore middle hitter Sydney Riley (Haverhill, Mass.) paced the Panthers with 11 floors, while rookie Sya McKay (Somersworth, N.H.) added 10.
The hosts dropped two tightly contested sets to begin the match before rebounding to seize a third set victory, 25-19. The Wolves led 16-10 before the Panthers rallied to slice it to a 16-15 deficit. However, WestConn was able to hold on as they scored six of the next seven points en route to the win.
The visitors jumped all over the hosts in the fourth as they surged to an early 6-0 lead. WestConn could not recover from the run. With the loss, the Wolves dropped to 12-4 overall and 1-1 in league play, while Plymouth State improved to 12-4 and 2-0. WestConn returns to action when they travel to archrival Eastern Connecticut on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
