HUNTINGDON, Pa. - Junior quarterback
Dylan Jackson (Monroe, Conn.) threw four touchdown passes and senior tailback
Kamryn Holmes (Branford, Conn.) rushed for 102 yards on 13 carries to guide the Western Connecticut State University football team to its fourth straight victory with a 63-15 route at Juniata Colllege on Saturday afternoon at Knox Stadium. With the win, the Wolves upped their record to 4-0 overall and 1-0 in league play while the Eagles dropped to 2-3 and 0-1.
The visitors took an early 6-0 lead when Jackson rumbled across the goal line from two yards out less than four minutes into play. It capped an eight play drive for 65 yards. The hosts countered quickly when Ivan Foreman took a handoff and raced downfield for a 67-yard score. The Eagles would tack on a two-point conversion to snag an 8-6 advantage. WestConn wasted little time in regaining the lead. Jackson found classmate wide receiver
Markus Faucett (Bronx, N.Y.) for a 33-yard scoring strike just moments later. Shortly thereafter, Wolves kicker
Marciel Do Amaral (Danbury, Conn.) drilled a 27-yard boot through the uprights, stretching the lead to 16-8 heading into the second quarter.
The Wolves then erupted to put up another 27 points on the board before halftime. Jackson stormed into the end zone from five yards out before Jackson threw a trio of scoring passes, widening the gap to 43-15 at the break.
It was all WestConn the rest of the way as Juniata failed to answer. Junior
Serge Lagardere (Stamford, Conn.) took a punt and scurried 70 yards, giving WestConn a 50-15 lead early in the third. Do Amar added a pair of field goals to round the count out at 63-15.
The Wolves will look to keep things rolling when they head to the University of New Haven on Saturday at 1 p.m.
