PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Two Wolves collected Little East Conference (LEC) Athletes of the Week honors after the Western Connecticut State University volleyball team swept the University of Southern Maine and Worcester Polytechnic Institute in a Tri-Match hosted by the Huskies on Saturday.
Julia Stoliker (Red Hook, N.Y.) earned Offensive Player of the Week in back-to-back weeks, while
Maggie Ferguson (Southbury, Conn.) was selected for Setter of the Week for the third time.
Stoliker averaged 4.75 kills and 5.19 points per set while hitting .326 in a 2-0 week for the Wolves as they blanked Southern Maine in league play before edging WPI in a five-set nailbiter, 3-2 (30-28, 24-26, 25-19, 19-25, 15-12) in a tri-match on Saturday. She tallied a match-high 19 kills with seven digs, two blocks and an ace against the Huskies before adding another 19 kills with nine digs and an ace against the Engineers.
Ferguson averaged 9.63 assists per set in a 2-0 week for the Wolves. She had 33 assists with nine digs and four kills in the sweep of Southern Maine before tallying 44 assists with 10 digs and three kills in the five-set thriller against WPI.
