WestConn Women's Soccer Clips Castleton

Box Score CASTLETON, Vt. - The visiting Western Connecticut State University Wolves earned a 1-0 victory over the Vermont State University Castleton Spartans in Little East Conference (LEC) women's soccer action at Dave Wolk Stadium this afternoon.  WestConn improves to 7-3-1 overall and 2-0 in the LEC, while the Spartans fall to 5-4 overall and 1-1 in the league.  The Wolves will play at Worcester State next on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

WestConn outshot Castleton, 19-6, and its defense did not yield a single shot-on-goal.  The Wolves forced Castleton goalie Emma Ezzo to make four saves during the scoreless first half.  WestConn scored the clincher off a well-placed delivery by senior Suzana Imetovski forward (Seymour, Conn.).  Castleton's best opportunity came in the 72nd minute when a free kick from 40 yards out by Becky Hanwacker struck the crossbar.  Imetovski took the lone shot-on-target after the goal but Ezzo's sixth save kept the score at 1-0.  Sophomore goalie Gracen Regan (Monroe, N.J.) improved to 3-1 despie not having to make a save.
