SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The Western Connecticut State University men's soccer squad got above the .500 mark following a 3-0 shutout victory at non-conference opponent Western New England University on Wednesday afternoon at Suprenant Field. The Wolves received yet another well-rounded scoring effort as a trio of players pierced the scoring column.
Wolves rookie midfielder
Nicola Acocella (Harrison, N.Y.) got things started when he buried a shot into the twine 10:05 into the contest. The visitors would maintain the advantage heading into halftime.Â
Senior midfielder
Kadin Talho (Waterbury, Conn.) continued his stellar start to the season when he found the back of the net in the 57th minute, widening the gap to 2-0. WestConn continued to accumulate corner kick opportunities thru the match, finishing with a 10-2 advantage, en route to controlling play in the second half. Junior forward
Ian Mounts (Middletown, Conn.) rounded out the tallies when he canned a goal to make it 3-0 in the 72nd minute.
With the victory, the Wolves upped their record to 3-2-1 overall while the Golden Bears sank to 2-3-2. WestConn returns to the field when they travel to Keene State for their Little East Conference opener on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m.
