WILLIMANTIC, Conn. - The Western Connecticut State University baseball team dropped a 6-0 decision at 15th-ranked Eastern Connecticut in a Little East Conference matchup on Tuesday afternoon at ECSU Field. With the loss, the Wolves fell to 4-18 overall while the Warriors improved to 22-6.
The visitors were held without a hit as they ran into a starting pitcher on a hot streak. Graduate student Nathan Furino (East Haven, Conn) tossed a complete game and allowed just one walk to guide Eastern to the victory.Â
WestConn committed four errors which led to the Warriors win. The hosts got things started with a run in the second before senior Zach Donahue (South Windsor, Conn.) blasted a solo homer in the third. Eastern added a pair of runs in the fourth before sending another two runs across the plate in the seventh en route to the victory.Â
The Wolves will look to rebound when they host a non-league doubleheader against Albertus Magnus tomorrow at 3 p.m.
