BRONX, N.Y. - Senior Stanley Roman (Danbury, Conn.) went 3-for-4 with a double, two runs and two RBIs to lead the visiting Western Connecticut State University Wolves to a 15-5 win over the Lehman College Lightning in baseball action this afternoon on South Field. WestConn snaps a three-game losing skid and improves to 3-9 heading into a Little East Conference (LEC) doubleheader against UMass-Dartmouth on Saturday at noon. Lehman remains winless at 0-9.
The Wolves scored three runs in four different innings and pounded 21 hits, jumping out to an 11-0 lead after four innings. Five different WestConn players had multiple hits, including junior Spencer Barnett (Danbury, Conn.) who matched Roman by going 3-for-4. WestConn senior Jesse Dunn (Bedford, N.Y.) was 2-for-3 with two doubles, three runs and two steals, while sophomore Peter Coniglio (New Milford, Conn.) had two hits, four runs, and two steals. Junior starter Max Grewal (Long Beach, N.Y.) went the first three innings and allowed one hit to secure the win and freshman Bryan Mansfield (Lynbrook, N.Y.) was the best of five Wolves relievers with five strikeouts over two scoreless and hitless innings.
