Field Hockey Falls to Ramapo

DANBURY, Conn. - The Western Connecticut State University field hockey team fell to visiting non-conference opponent Ramapo College, 4-0, on Wednesday evening at the Westside Athletic Complex.

With the loss, the Wolves dropped to 5-8 overall while the Roadrunners improved to 3-8.

Junior midfielder Victoria Chavez (Pequannock, NJ) paced the visitors with a pair of goals, while classmate midfielder Allison Tanasy (Long Branch, NJ) chipped in with one goal and an assist.

WestConn put the pressure on Ramapo in the early stages of the contest. They appeared to find the back of the cage on a rush upfield. However, the shot which crossed the line came just after time expired in the first quarter.

The Roadrunners tallied the first marker of the game when Chavez took a feed and buried her team-leading fourth goal of the campaign. The visitors took control of the momentum and racked up three goals in the second half en route to the win. Tanasy launched a blast from 10 yards out to widen the gap to 2-0 early in the fourth quarter. Shortly thereafter, Chavez notched her fifth of the season when she took a shot and fired home her own rebound attempt. The Roadrunners would add another late to round the count out at 4-0.

WestConn will look to rebound when they host Little East Conference foe Castleton on Saturday at 4 p.m.
