WestConn Field Hockey Falls to Framingham State

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. - In a hard-fought battle on Tuesday night, Western Connecticut State University fell to non-conference opponent Framingham State University in field hockey action. With the loss, WestConn's record falls to 6-11 overall. The Wolves will look to bounce back in their next game against in-state rival Eastern Connecticut next Wednesday, October 30th at 6 p.m. 

Despite taking the lead twice in the first quarter, the Wolves were unable to hold off the Rams. WestConn came out strong, with junior forward Reagan Schoen (Newtown, Conn.) finding the back of the cage just 34 seconds into the game, assisted by classmate Alyssa Montalvo (Farmingville, N.Y). However, the Rams quickly equalized at the 3:30 mark.

The Wolves regained the lead at 4:58 when freshman Andrea Moulton (Stafford Springs, Conn) converted on a pass from senior Constance Conlan (Chatham, N.J). WestConn thought they had extended their lead to 3-1, but a potential goal was disallowed by the officials. Framingham State capitalized on this opportunity leveling the score at 2-2 with a breakaway goal at 13:17.  The game-winning goal for the Rams came in the third quarter as Angelina Serra scored off a rebound. Despite their best efforts, the Wolves were unable to find an equalizer in the remaining time.
