Men's Soccer Falls to UMass Boston

DANBURY, Conn. - The Western Connecticut State University men's soccer team suffered a 3-0 loss to visiting UMass Boston in a homecoming matchup on Saturday afternoon at the Westside Athletic Complex.

With the loss, the Wolves fell to 11-4-2 overall and 5-1 in league play, while the Beacons seized first place in the conference standings, improving to 7-1-4 and 5-0-1.

The visitors came out on fire as they jumped out to an early 2-0 lead on goals from Eduardo Chirico and Patrick Garcia. The hosts put on the pressure and outshot the Beacons by an 18-10 margin. However, they couldn't break thru as UMass Boston netminder Andy Ramirez was stellar between the posts, finishing with nine saves.

UMass Boston rounded the scoring out in the 68th minute when Logan Erickson-Potter he found the back of the net.

WestConn saw its five-game win streak come to an end. They will look to get their winning ways when they host non-conference opponent Trinity College on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
