DANBURY, Conn. - The Western Connecticut State University Wolves could not make up for a slow start, falling to the visiting Rhode Island College Anchorwomen, 74-33, in Little East Conference (LEC) women's basketball action this afternoon at Feldman Arena. WestConn falls to 4-11 overall and 0-6 in the Little East, while the No. 3-ranked Anchorwomen remain undefeated at 15-0 overall and 6-0 in the league. Tyonna Morgan (West Haven, Conn.) came off the WestConn bench to score eight and nine points, respectively.
Rhode Island College scored the first 10 points of the game on its way to a 22-6 lead after one quarter. WestConn played the Anchorwomen nearly even in the second frame, scoring 15 points and allowing 18, as Craig scored seven for the home team in the quarter. Rhode Island College outscored the Wolves, 20-4, in the third period, however, to put the game away. Izabelle Booth paced the visitors with 18 points, while Neleesha Meunier had 10 points and eight rebounds. The Anchorwomen finished with a 42-32 edge on the boards and forced 28 Wolves turnovers. Nicole Vivian (New Milford, Conn.) collected eight points and eight rebounds, while Morgan added five boards and a pair of blocked shots to her team-high nine points.
