WORCESTER, Mass. - The visiting Western Connecticut State University Wolves dropped a 3-0 decision against the Worcester Polytechnic Institute Engineers in women's soccer action this afternoon. WestConn loses for the first time in five games and is now 2-4-4. WPI improves its record to 6-4 with its third win in a row. The Wolves will host Little East Conference (LEC) rival Plymouth State on Saturday at 10 a.m. in their next game. Freshman
Gracen Regan (Monroe, N.J.) made five saves for WestConn.
WestConn's offense came out firing and put four shots on goal in the first 16 minutes, but WPI goalie Lili Hellerman turned away each one. Lottie McCloud scored on the first Engineer shot of the game in the 20th minute, and the home team added another goal later in the first half. Regan made three stops in a span of 57 seconds early in the second stanza and WPI took a flurry of shots 20 minutes after the break but Regan made her fourth save and four other bids were blocked by the Wolves' defense. The Engineers scored their final goal in the 76th minute, while WestConn senior
Myah Croze (Bristol, Conn.) got off one more late in the second that Hellerman stopped for her sixth and final save.
