Five Players Record Hat Tricks as Wolves Race Past Eastern, 22-6

MANSFIELD, Conn. - Five different players recorded hat tricks as the Western Connecticut State University women's lacrosse team raced past host Eastern Connecticut State University, 22-6, in a Little East Conference matchup on Wednesday afternoon at Rick McCarthy Field.

Senior attacker Dominique DeMarsico (Danbury, Conn.) led the way for the Wolves with four goals and two assists. Junior midfielder Vicky Gracy (Bethel, Conn.) added another four scoring strikes to go along with a helper. Juniors Katelyn Contreras (Danbury, Conn.), Colleen Crotty (Peabody, Mass.), and rookie Faye Junge (Centerport, N.Y.) each chipped in with hat tricks for the winners. Wolves junior netminder Molly Bresnahan (Grton, Conn.) got the start and earned the win with a pair of saves.

Kaylee Drobish paced the Warriors with two goals and one assist, while Emma Oliano found the back of the twine twice.

The visitors exploded out of the gate to capture a 7-2 to end the opening quarter. DeMarsico broke the ice less than one minute into the action when she tallied her 46th goal of the season. Crotty wrapped up the run with a tally with a Warrior on the sidelines serving a penalty.

The Wolves continued to pour it on in the second. Senior midfielder Colleen Foley (Kingston, Mass.) canned her 22nd marker of the years, extending the advantage to 14-2 at halftime.

The visitors would not let up as they scored six of the nine goals in the final quarter. Gracy highlighted the barrage with her team-leading 55th goal on the campaign.

With the win, the Wolves secured at least the No. 2 spot in the upcoming LEC Postseason Tournament, improving to 13-2 overall and 6-0 in league play, while Eastern dropped to 5-9 and 3-3. WestConn returns to action with a chance to lock up the top seed when they travel to conference opponent Southern Maine in their regular season finale on Saturday.
