Julian Duque (Mastic, N.Y.) tallied three goals and three assists, while senior midfielder
Stephen Cicchetti (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) added four scoring strikes to guide the Western Connecticut State University men's lacrosse team to a 16-4 victory over Wentworth Institute of Technology in its spring trip opener on Saturday.
Senior attackman
Trey Aronow (Holbrook, N.Y.) chipped in with two goals and a trio of helpers, while senior
Benjamin Hawthorne (Manorville, N.Y.) and rookie
Tristan McMahon (Farmingville, N.Y.) finished with two goals apiece for the Wolves.
Liam Carroll led the Leopards with a pair of goals and one assist, while Jack Wishart connected with the twine twice.
The Wolves bombarded Wentworth with 49 shots for the game and utilized an 8-0 run out the gate to seize control. Cicchetti got things rolling when he found the back of the net 1:50 into the first quarter. Duque earned the hat trick to conclude the opening period flurry.
The Wolves widened it to 9-0 early in the second when McMahon registered an unassisted tally. Carroll and Wishart answered for the Leopards, slicing the deficit to 9-2 at halftime.
WestConn added four more goals in the third, stretching it to 13-2. Aronow ignited the run before putting the finishing touches on the outburst, netting his 18th goal of the season.

Joseph Boss (Holbrook, N.Y.) earned his second goal of the campaign in the final stanza, while sophomores
Kai Bruneau (West Haven, Conn.) and
Kyle Cuccio (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) each netted their first goals of the year to conclude the Wolves' scoring.
WestConn junior netminder
Brendan Grove (Cheshire, Conn.) earned his fifth win with nine saves, while senior
Jason Friia (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) turned aside one shot in relief. Ryan Kalberer dropped to 2-2 and recorded 15 saves before Tom Gardner entered to add one in the waning minutes.
With the win, the Wolves improved to 5-0 overall while the Leopards fell to 2-3. WestConn will wrap up its Florida trip when they meet North Central College on Wednesday at 1 p.m.
