Gabrielle Franks (Madison, Conn.) tallied career-highs of 38 points and 24 rebounds to propel the Western Connecticut State University women's basketball team to a 101-50 victory at non-conference opponent York College (N.Y.) on Saturday afternoon. Franks' stellar performance nearly shattered school records. Melissa Teel tallied 39 points and 25 rebounds in two separate contests during the 2010-11 campaign.

Nicole Peralta (North Windham, Conn.) knocked down a trio of trifectas en route to a 13-point game.
Alicia Gumbs had a noteworthy effort for the Cardinals, finishing with team-highs of 29 points, eight rebounds and three dimes.Â
The Wolves dominated the glass, 67-19, which led to 26 second-chance points. They held the hosts to zero offensive rebounds. The winners sank nearly 47 percent of their shots while holding York to just a 29 percent showing.Â
WestConn began the game with an 8-2 run and would not look back. Peralta capped the spurt with a jumper from inside the paint. The visitors marched to a 23-14 advantage to conclude the opening stanza. They widened the gap to a 48-21 halftime lead when senior guard
Maggie Nardini (Sandwich, Mass.) buried a pair of free throws. York would not recover in the second half as the winners finished with their largest offensive outburst of the season.
With the win, WestConn improved to 2-8 overall while the Cardinals dropped to 0-7. The Wolves get a break and will look to continue moving in a positive direction whey they host the Hat City Classic on Thursday, December 28. They matchup against Alfred University at 5 p.m. before meeting City College of New York on Friday.
