Cameron Gallon (York, Pa.) had 21 points, 10 rebounds, five assists, and two steals to lead the visiting Western Connecticut State University Wolves to an 86-67 victory over SUNY Old Westbury Panthers in men's basketball action this evening. WestConn, coming off a 14-day layoff, improves to 3-1 with third consecutive win and will host St. Joseph's College (L.I.) next on Thursday at 6 p.m. Old Westbury remains winless at 0-5.
WestConn jumped out to an 11-3 lead after a layup by junior forward
James Rhodes (Tarrytown, N.Y.) and after a 6-0 run by Old Westbury the Wolves used a 15-4 run to go ahead by double digits at 24-13 on a layup by junior forward
Jourdan Belcher (Elmsford, N.Y.) with 12:29 on the clock. WestConn maintained at least a six-point cushion over the remainder of the first half and Gallon scored five of six Wolves' points to give the visitors a 47-33 lead at the break.
The Panthers battled back and cut their deficit to six points at 53-47 on consecutive jumpers by Amadi Lee-Kane with 14:11 on the clock. WestConn answered with an 11-0 spurt with the first six points coming on three buckets in a row by Belcher to make the score, 66-49 midway through the second stanza. The Wolves cruised to the end, leading by as many as 22 points on a three-pointer by rookie guard

Gallon made seven of 12 shots from the floor, three of five from long range and all four of his free throws, while Belcher was 8-for-9 from the field with 18 points, and junior guard

Alfonso Stokes (Bloomfield, Conn.) scored 10 points to lead the Wolves' starting unit. Lee-Kane led all scorers with 31 points to go with eight boards and Williams totaled 10 points for the Panthers.
