DARTMOUTH, Mass. - After senior
Myah Croze (Bristol, Conn.) earned a hat trick in a victory earlier in the week, junior
Kyla Norton (East Hampton, Conn.) netted three goals of her own on Saturday afternoon to lift the Western Connecticut State University women's soccer squad to a 6-0 win at Little East Conference opponent UMass Dartmouth. Classmate
Adriana Alfano (New Milford, Conn.) chipped in with a pair of assists.
Norton got things going for the Wolves just 5:56 into the contest when she took a pass from graduate student
Julia DePalma (Kings Park, N.Y.) and found the back of the net. Moments later, she canned her second goal of the game off a feed from Alfano, widening the gap to 2-0. Junior forward
Suzana Imetovski (Seymour, Conn.) and Croze followed up with unassisted scoring strikes before Norton earned the hat trick, rounding out the first half flurry while extending the advantage to 5-0 at the break. The goal from Croze was her team-leading 10th marker of the season.
WestConn took the pedal off the gas a bit in the second half as they moved the ball around with some nifty passing. Junior Sam Mackenzie (Brookfield, Conn.) tallied her 4th goal of the year in the 83rd minute of play to wrap the count out at 6-0.Â
The Wolves finished ahead in shots, 18-14, and corner kick attempts, 6-3. Junior
Kasey Donnelly (New Milford, Conn.) earned the win while shielding the WestConn twine en route to one save, while sophomore
Gia Giorgianni (Easton, Conn.) relieved her and stopped three shots. With the victory, the Wolves improved to 5-4-4 overall and 3-0-1 in LEC play, while the Corsairs dropped to 2-6-3 and 0-3-1.
WestConn will seek its fourth consecutive win when they host The City College of New York in a non-conference battle on Monday at 3 p.m.
