DANBURY, Conn. - The Western Connecticut State University men's tennis team cruised to an 8-1 victory over visiting Castleton University in the Little East Conference opener for both teams on Saturday afternoon. With the win, WestConn improved to 1-5 overall and 1-0 in league play, while the Spartans fell to 1-4 and 0-1.
After sweeping the doubles play, WestConn continued the stellar play in singles action.
"It was a good team win today. The guys were determined to get the victory today and I'm happy they did. Being able to close out matches to get the win is a skill not to be taken for granted. It comes with pressure and todays match offered them the opportunity to get that experience," said WestConn head coach

Sebastian Frisch (Redding, Conn.), and sophomore
Kevin Tenesaca (Danbury, Conn.) all won their respective singles and doubles matches for WCSU.
Rookie
Caleb Harris (Guilford, Conn) also fought back from an early 4-1 deficit before winning 12 of the next 13 games, winning 6-4, 6-1. Junior
Jerry Narcisse (Norwalk, Conn.) also got in on the winning action, team up with Harris for a doubles win.
WestConn will look to build on the momentum when they host non-conference opponent Mt. Saint Mary College on Friday at 3:30 p.m.
