Forsberg Knocks in Two in Loss to Second-Ranked Eastern

WILLIMANTIC, Conn. - Senior second baseman Brian Forsberg (New Fairfield, Conn.) drove in a pair of runs to break up the shutout as the WestConn baseball team was downed at cross-state archival Eastern Connecticut in a Little East Conference contest on Tuesday evening. With the loss, WCSU dropped to 4-10 overall and 0-4 in league play, while the Warriors - ranked No. 2 in the nation - improved to 19-2 overall and 7-0.

Rookie Nicholas Moeller (Mahopac, N.Y.) was the other WestConn player to notch a hit against a tough Warrior's squad.

Eastern starting pitcher Aidan Dunn improved to 2-0, tossing six strong innings while striking out nine. Matt Malcom paced Eastern's offensive attack with five RBI's.

The hosts got things started with a five-run first inning. The erupted for 10 runs in the fifth, highlighted by a Malcom three-run blast over the wall, extending their lead to 13-0. They would lead 23-0 before Forsberg ripped the single to put WestConn on the board and round the count out at 23-2.

WestConn returns to action for a non-conference matchup against visiting John Jay College on Thursday at 5 p.m.
