Rosaleen Regan (Monroe, N.J.) each tallied 10 points to guide the Western Connecticut State University women's basketball team to a 59-53 victory at York College in a non-conference contest on Friday night.
With the win, the Wolves improved to 6-1 overall while the Cardinals dropped to 5-3. The game also marked the 400th career victory for WestConn head coach
Kimberley Rybczyk. She accumulated her wins at RPI and Southwestern Texas before taking the helm at her alma mater in 2002.
It was a well-rounded effort for the visitors. Graduate student

Ashley Rilley (Orangeburg, N.Y.) chipped in with nine and eight points, respectively, while senior
Jasmine Caldwell (Mt. Vernon, N.Y.) added a team-high seven rebounds.
The hosts also had three members reach double figures. Mac-Dege Dessources led York with game-highs of 16 points and 16 boards, while Ellma Hodzic tossed in 15.
The Wolves opened the first quarter with a 9-0 spurt. They would maintain a 20-10 advantage to end the stanza when Regan drilled a three-pointer.
The gap widened to 34-13 midway thru the second when Franks muscled in a layup off a feed from Caldwell. The Wolves would head into halftime ahead, 34-20.
It appeared the Wolves would coast the rest of the way after they entered the fourth up 46-35. However, York rallied in the final quarter, trimming the deficit to just 56-53 when Madison Plaza converted a pair of free throw attempts with 22 seconds remaining. But the visitors sank three clutch shots from the charity stripe in the waning seconds to round the count out at 59-53.
The Wolves will host the Cardinals in a rematch at Feldman Arena on Sunday at 2 p.m.
