Box Score BROOKLYN, N.Y. - Four players tallied double figures as the Western Connecticut State University men's basketball team cruised to an 87-41 victory at non-conference foe St. Joseph's (Brooklyn) on Monday night.
Rookie guard
Jahvon Myrthil (Waterbury, Conn.) led the visitors with a game-high 12 points, while senior forward
Jaheim Young (Brooklyn, N.Y.), junior guard
Jalen Jackson (Brick, N.J.) and sophomore guard
Keeshawn Jones (Middletown, N.J.) each finished with 10.Â
Chris Tracy paced the hosts with 10 points, while Joseph Abraham chipped in with nine.
The Wolves turned up the defensive intensity once again. This time they forced 33 turnovers which translated to 31 points. WestConn controlled the ball and only coughed it up 14 times.Â
The visitors also dominated the glass, 50-38, and the Wolves bench outscored the Bears reserves by a 43-23 margin.Â
WestConn jumped out to an early 18-10 lead. St. Joseph's trimmed it to 18-16 when Tracy converted a three-ball but that would be the closest they would come the rest of the way.Â
The Wolves poured it on the rest of the opening frame, snagging a 46-21 lead at halftime when Jones drilled a shot from beyond-the-arc. The Bears could not recover as WestConn finished off the game with their largest lead of the contest, a 46-point advantage, rounding the count out at 87-41.Â
With the victory, the Wolves improved to 8-0 overall. They return to action on Thursday, December 29 when they host the City College of New York in the opening round of the WestConn Holiday Tournament.
