DANBURY, Conn. - Western Connecticut State University has hired Bryce Charney as an assistant men's basketball coach for the 2026-27 season.  Charney comes to WestConn from Albertus Magnus College, where he was served as a men's basketball assistant in 2025-26.  The Wolves, coached by Guy Rancourt (8th Season), posted a 21-7 overall record and won the Little East Conference (LEC) regular season title with a 12-4 league mark.  The Wolves downed Eastern Connecticut, 60-59, in overtime in the LEC Semifinals and Keene State, 84-68, in the finals to capture the LEC Tournament title and qualified for the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament.  WestConn suffered a 71-69, setback to Catholic at Tufts in the NCAA First Round.

Charney is a 2024 graduate of Quinnipiac University where he earned a bachelor's degree in sport management. He also owns a master's degree in management and organizational leadership from Albertus Magnus and has earned a Sports Management Worldwide NIL Certificate and a Basketball GM & Scouting certificate.  Charney was a gameday operations assistant for the men's and women's basketball programs while an undergraduate at Quinnipiac, and is a scouting correspondent with New England Recruiting Report.
