Nicole Peralta (Windham, Conn.) and freshman
Malaysia Dingle (Brockton, Mass.) each scored in double figures and the Western Connecticut State University women's basketball team capped off a home-and-home series with York College with a 61046 victory at Feldman Arena on Sunday afternoon.
Vivian led the Wolves, now 7-1 and winners of six straight, with 17 points while Dingle and Peralta added 12 and 10 points, respectively, for the winners.
Elma Hodzic and Mac-Dege Dessources each scored a dozen while Alicia Gumbs contributed 10 points for the Cardinals, which fall to 5-4 on the season.
WestConn senior
Ashley Rilley (Orangberg, NY) led all players with 11 rebounds.
Dessources and Aminata Sagna each pulled down six caroms for the visitors.
After trailing for the entire first half, Vivian canned a three-point jumper nine seconds into the second half to give the hosts a 30-27 lead.
The Wolves largest lead of the game came with 18 seconds remaining following a pair of free throws from Peralta. It turned out to be the game's final points.
York led by as many as 11 points, 19-8, when Gumbs buried a jumper from beyond the arc with 7:13 left in the second period.
WestConn closed out the victory with a decisive 21-0 advantage in bench points scored on Sunday.
The Wolves play host to SUNY Cobleskill on Friday, December 16. Game time with the Fighting Tigers is set for 6 pm.
