DANBURY, Conn. - Six different players scored in double figures as the Western Connecticut State University women's basketball team cruised to a 92-35 victory over visiting SUNY Delhi in the opening contest of the two-day Hat City Tournament at Feldman Arena on Friday.
Mitchell College raced to a 92-44 win over Fitchburg State in the nightcap. Mitchell will meet SUNY Delhi on Saturday at 1 p.m., while WestConn hosts Fitchburg State at 3 p.m. to wrap up the tournament.Â

Gabrielle Franks (Madison, Conn.) paced the Wolves with 14 points, while rookie center
Kirsten Rodriguez (Fairfield, Conn.) came off the bench to tally 12. Graduate student forward
Katelyn Fanning (Dobbs Ferry, N.Y.) provided the final punch with a double-double on 11 points and a game-high 10 assists.
Junior guard Angelica Lazo (Elmont, N.Y.) led the Broncos with 14 points.Â
The hosts erupted to snag a 26-9 lead to end the opening quarter as they shot a scorching 11-of-16 (69 percent) from the field. They stayed red-hot in the second frame, hitting an 11-of-19 (58 percent) clip.Â
The winners finished with a 55-25 advantage on the glass. They also forced 22 Bronco turnovers, while committing just 14.Â
With the victory, the Wolves improved to 8-1 overall while SUNY Delhi dropped to 2-9.
