Box Score BOSTON, Mass. – A pair of Kaylee Haynes goals lift women's soccer to an impressive 3-0 Little East Conference win over Western Connecticut State University Saturday afternoon at UMB Soccer Field on Senior Day.

WestConn drops to 10-6-1 overall and 5-1-1 in the Little East Conference, but have secured the number two seed and first round bye in the LEC Tournament, which begins on November 1.  The Wolves will host the winner of the #4 versus #5 quarterfinal match-up in the semifinals on Thursday, November 3, at a time to be determined as the WestConn men's soccer team won its LEC regular-season title and first round seed.  It too will host a semifinal game on November 1.

UMass Boston improves to 6-8-2 overall and is guaranteed a spot in the LEC post-season tournament at 4-3-0 in league action.

Maria Spylios, was once again untouchable in goal as she saved all 10 of WestConn's shots on goal. She got to work early, recording three saves in the first five minutes of play.

When the action shifted to the other side of the field, the Beacons' offense got to work quickly. Before 15 minutes had ticked off the clock they already had their first goal of the day courtesy of a goal by Haynes, assisted by Dani Anderson.

The Beacons regained possession almost immediately as they intercepted the WestConn kickoff. In the 15th minute, just 29 seconds after Haynes' score, Callia Eaton put an unassisted goal in the back of the net to extend the lead to 2-0.

Later in the half, Haynes decided that she was not satisfied with one goal in her senior game as she controlled a goal kick and found space in the bottom left corner for her second goal of the game.

The UMB defense held strong to close out the game as none of WestConn's 13 second half shots found the net, preserving the shutout.

Saturday's game was WestConn's first conference loss of the season, they were previously 5-0-1.

Spylios' shutout was her fourth of the season and the 18th of her career, a program record.

Haynes two-goal performance matched her season total coming into the game.

WestConn matched the Beacons with 10 shots on goal while leading total shots 21-13.

Kristen Roessler suffered the loss in goal for WestConn after making four saves and allowing all three goals in the first 45 minutes.  Kasey Donnelly came on for the second half and made three saves for the Wolves.

The Wolves wrap up their regular season with three home game beginning on Tuesday, October 25 when it plays host to Salem State University at 6 pm.  Twenty-four hours later, WestConn takes on Bard College in a non-conference affair.  The regular season concludes on Saturday, October 29, on Senior Day, against LEC regular-season champions University of Southern Maine.  Game time is set for 11 am.
