CASTLETON, Vt. - Fives are wild for the Western Connecticut State University women's soccer team. On Saturday, it extended its win streak to five games with a 3-0 shut out against host Castleton University at Dave Wolk Stadium.
Senior
Myah Croze (Bristol, Conn.) opened the scoring when she converted a penalty in the ninth minute, given after a Spartans defender was caught handling the ball in the box. Sophomore
Suzana Imetovski (Seymour, Conn.) added added a pair of insurance goals for the Wolves.
Over the five-game ride, Croze and Imetovski have each scored five goals and WestConn raises its record to 7-4-0 overall and 4-0-0 in the Little East Conference.
Imetovski now leads the LEC with nine goals in her second campaign.
Sophomore goalie
Kasey Donnelly (New Milford, Conn.) went the distance for the Wolves and made nine saves.
Alex Benfatti recorded eight saves for Castleton, which falls to 3-8-0 overall and 1-2-0 in league action.
The Spartans finished with a slim 16-14 shot advantage and attempted one more corner kick, 5-4, than WestConn.
The Wolves continue their four-game road swing when they travel to Worcester State University. Game time against the Lancers is slated for 7 pm in the Heart of the Commonwealth.
