Rilley Sinks 11 as Women's Basketball Falls to Castleton, 68-45

CASTLETON, Vt. - Junior guard Ashley Rilley (Orangeburg, N.Y.) netted a team-high 11 points to go along with seven rebounds but it wasn't enough as the Western Connecticut State University women's basketball squad fell at Castleton University, 68-45, in a Little East Conference matchup on Monday afternoon at Glenbrook Gym.

With the loss, WestConn evened their record at 6-6 overall and 1-2 in conference play, while the Spartans improved to 7-4 and 1-2.

Four different players finished in double figures for the hosts who shot a scorching 11-of-21 (52 percent) from three-point range, while the visitors went 3-of-17 (17 percent). Castleton also finished with a slight edge in rebounds.

The Spartans jumped out to a 9-0 lead and would not look back. They held a 23-9 advantage at the end of the opening period.

WestConn could not mount a rally as Castleton widened the margin to as much as 30 points midway through the final stanza.

WestConn returns to action for yet another LEC battle when they hosts UMass-Dartmouth on Wednesday at 2 p.m.
