Box Score WESTFIELD, Mass. - The Western Connecticut State University men's soccer team improved to 5-1 overall with a 2-0 victory at non-conference opponent Westfield State University (2-3 overall) on Monday evening at Alumni Field. Senior reigning Little East Conference Goalkeeper of the Week Daniel Szabo (Trumbull, Conn.) turned aside three shots, while classmate Matthew Restrepo (Bridgeport, Conn.) and sophomore Franz Muhaj (Bridgeport, Conn.) each tallied goals for the visitors. 

WestConn drew first blood when Muhaj fired a shot into the back of the net on a penalty kick attempt less than six minutes into play.

They would capitalize on yet another penalty kick when Restrepo blasted home a shot, extending the lead to 2-0 in the 56th minute.

The visitors would also bang a pair of shots off the post as they put the pressure on the Owls for most of the night. WestConn would finish ahead in shots, 23-6, and corner kicks, 10-3.

The squad returns to action for a non-league matchup when they host John Jay College on Wednesday at 7 p.m. They open LEC play at Rhode Island College on Saturday at 1 p.m.
