DANBURY, Conn. — After a scoreless 87 minutes, the Western Connecticut State University men's soccer team draws 1-1 with Brooklyn College after each team scored a minute apart to close out regulation at the Westside Athletic Complex on Sunday. The Wolves moved to 11-3-5, while the Bulldogs are now 6-3-4 overall. The Wolves honored their 11 seniors after the conclusion of the game.
In the 88th minute, Brooklyn Daniel Sokira put the visitors on the board with an unassisted tally, but the lead was short-lived as
Demani Gordon (Bronx, N.Y.) netted the equalizer a minute and 13 seconds later. Bulldogs' goalkeeper Juan Carlos Solis Cazares scooped up a long cross by
Jeffrey Norales (Bronx, N.Y.) intended for Gordon, but instead of booting it away, Solis Cazares just rolled it to a nearby defender, which allowed Gordon to apply pressure and easily take it away for the Wolves' game-tying goal at 88:28 in the second half.
Chance Campbell (Bartow, Fla.) had a chance to put WestConn on the board in the 59th minute, after alluding the goalkeeper, but a Bulldogs defender saved the ball as it started to cross the goal line.
WestConn outshot the visitors 34-5, but Solis Cazares denied 14 shots on target, while the backfield held strong through the majority of fulltime. Senior goalkeeper
Justin Rivest (Repetigny, Quebec) played the full 90 for WestConn and made a pair of saves on the day.
The Wolves travel to Keene State University on October 24 for their final regular-season game after clinching Little East Conference regular-season champions yesterday with a win over Rhode Island College.
