Lorenzo Lauria Scores Winner 22 Seconds Into Overtime

MAHWAH, N.J. - Freshman forward Lorenzo Lauria (New Haven, Conn.) scored the game-winning goal just 22 seconds into overtime to lift Western Connecticut State University to a 1-0 victory over Ramapo College at tge Athletic Center Turf on Saturday afternoon.

Lauria deflected an errant pass by a Roadrunner defender and poked the ball into the open goal mouth before the fans could get comfortable back in their seats.  It was his second goal in as many games.

Following the non-league contest, WestConn garners a 4-1 record while Ramapo drops to 2-2 on the season.

Senior keeper Daniel Szabo (Trumbull, Conn.) earned the extra-time clean sheet after making six saves on Saturday.

Joshua Schaffer suffered the loss in goal for the Roadrunners.  He made eight saves in regulation and was defenseless in the extra seconds of overtime.

The contest was obviously tight throughout with WestConn finishing with a 17-14 advantage on shots and 5-4 edge on corner kicks.
