Eric Caldwell Scored Four Goals As WestConn Advances In LECs

DANBURY, Conn. - For the second time 10 days, the Western Connecticut State University men's lacrosse team cruised to victory over Castleton University.  On Tuesday, the Colonials defeated the visiting Spartans, 18-7 in the Little East Conference Tournament quarterfinals at the Westside Athletic Complex.

WestConn, now 5-2, advance to the semifinals against Keene State College on Thursday, May 6.  Game time in southern New Hampshire is set for 7 pm.  Unfortunately, KSC does not allow spectators outside of its own student body.  All the action can be seen at www.littleeast.tv.

Senior attack Eric Caldwell (East Moriches, N.Y.), who earlier this season became the program's all-time leading goal scorer, added four goals to his career total in today's victory.  He finished with four markers and two assists for six total points and extends his seasonal team highs to 26, 16 and 42, respectively.

Donald Schaumloffel (Wantagh, N.Y.) and Trey Aronow (Holbrook, N.Y.) each added a hat trick for the winners.

Junior goalie Perry Cassidy (East Setauket, N.Y.) was credited with the win after making eight saves in 53 minutes.  Justin Tarsi (Danbury, Conn.) and Sean Young (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) came on for the final seven minutes.

For Castleton, which completes its season winless at 0-12, were led by freshman Hunter Sarro's (North Attleboro, Mass.) trio of goals.  Collin Johnson (South Burlington, Vt.) and Conner Ladabouche (Rutland, Vt.) each tallied two goals for the Spartans.

It was Ladabouche's first goal of the day, at the 6:45 mark of the first quarter, that put the Spartans in front, 3-2.  WestConn would go on to scored the games next nine goals to hold an 11-3 advantage in the early going of the second half.

Maxx Ingison (Manchester, Vt.) suffered the loss between the pipes for CU.  He made 18 saves in 57 minutes.
