Box Score DANBURY, Conn. - After downing Southern Maine to begin the season, the Western Connecticut State University men's tennis squad fell to visiting Little East Conference foe Rhode Island College, 8-1, Wednesday afternoon at the Westside Courts. The women's squad was also downed, 9-0, in their second match of the season.
"Our men fought hard today, but could not come out on top. We battled injuries and had to make adjustments in our lineup due to COVIDÂ issues, but Rhode Island played great and deserved to win. We hope for better results next time," said Colonial head coach
Shawn Stillman following the men's action.Â
"Rhode Island is a tough team. They're deep. This is the toughest test for our team this season. I'm so proud of their efforts," he added after the women's tennis contest.
WestConn returns to action at Castleton University on Friday.Â
