Mack Driver Breaks School Record With Seven Rushing Touchdowns

WORCESTER, Mass. - Sophomore quarterback Mack Driver (Mastic Beach, N.Y.) scored a school-record seven rushing touchdowns in Western Connecticut State University's 56-30 victory at Worcester State University on Saturday afternoon.

Driver surpassed Octavias McKoy's five rushing scores, which he accomplished on three different occasions.  McCoy hit pay dirt five times against Massachusetts Maritime, Oct. 12; Fitchburg State, on October 19; and Worcester State, on October 26, all in 2013.  During that three week span, McCoy scored 15 of his program record 28 TDs in a season and 36 in a career.  He capped off the streak with 455 rushing yards against the Lancers, which at the time shattered the NCAA all-division rushing mark.

The WestConn runner amassed 444 yards on 53 carries, both season highs.  Chad Blaszky (Seldon, N.Y.) rushed 19 times for a game-high 149 yards and senior Roy Penn-Consentino (Liberty, N.Y) carried 11 times for 104 yards and scored on a 17-yard run in the opening seconds of the second quarter on Saturday.

On the afternoon, WestConn finished with a 444-70 advantage in its ground attack.

WestConn snapped a three-game losing streak in style as it scored the most points since October 19, 2019 when it defeated Westfield State University, 62-28.

Aaron Moses Williams (Springfield, Mass.) 18-for-30 for 262 yards and four touchdown throws.

Sophomore Ke'Vaughn Davis was Williams' top target as he pulled in nine receptions for 148 yards and three scores.

Defensively, WestConn was led by senior Matt Forti's (Bronx, N.Y.) seven take downs.

WestConn closes out the 2021 campaign next Saturday, November 6 at Fitchburg State University.  Kick-off against the Rams is slated for 12 noon.

The Lancers, 2-6 overall and 2-4 in the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference, travels to Westfield State University for a 12 noon meeting with the Owls next Saturday.
