Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Hannah Daly's Goal In Second Overtime Keeps WestConn Perfect

DANBURY, CONN. - Sophomore midfielder Hannah Daly (Newtown, Conn.) scored with 6:07 remaining in the second overtime to lift the Western Connecticut State University women's soccer team to a come-from-behind 2-1 victory over visiting Farmingdale State College at the Westside Athletic Complex on Monday night.

It was Daly's second career goal and came following a feed from Annie Sobolewski (Lagrangeville, N.Y.) into the top of the 18-yard box.  Sobelewski stole the Rams' clearing attempt some 40 yards away from the net and was able to find Daly open in the middle.

WestConn, now 13-0 on the season, fell behind 1-0 when Meagan Murdocco (North Babylon, N.Y.) lofted a shot into the box and WestConn keeper Karly Martin's (Bristol, Conn.) punch-out attempt caromed backwards an into the host's net.

It was the first time in 876:12 game minutes (10 games) that WestConn trailed in a game.  Back on September 8, visiting Ramapo College held a 1-0 lead before falling to WestConn, 4-1.

On Monday, WestConn drew even early in the 78th minute when freshman Suzana Imetovski (Seymour, Conn.) took advantage of a pair of assists from Lillian Daniels (Bethel, Conn.) and Skylar Jorge (Trumbull, Conn.).  It was Imetovski's, who leads all of Division III with 12 assists, sixth goal of the season.

Farmingdale, now 7-6, had its best scoring chance in the second overtime when Courtney Nelson (Ridge, N.Y.) ripped off an attempt that caromed off the left post.

Martin finished with eight saves for WestConn while Chloe Kensell (Monroe, N.Y.) turned away six WestConn scoring chances.

WestConn returns to Little East Conference action this Saturday, October 16 when it travels to University of Massachusetts Dartmouth for a noon clash with the Corsairs.

The Rams visit Sarah Lawrence College on Wednesday.  Game time is slated for 7 pm.
